The Spice Room at Circular Quay will impress – the decor and feel to the resto is smartly appealing in a deliberately curated and finished space. Food was well priced for this end of town. They also open earlier for dinner and is a popular pre show dinner destination. There’s also a tiered tiffin (think metal thins, that stack up) options for lunch. Us, we just loved the Peshawari style cooking here.

It’s just landed on the banks of Circular Quay, but The Spice Room may be the best sign yet that Indian will deliver on its long-awaited en mass promise.

For every souvenir shop selling kangaroo magnets at Circular Quay, there’s a host of chefs delivering some of Australia’s best produce at our finest restaurants. From Matt Moran’s ARIA and Ross Lusted’s The Bridge Room to Peter Gilmore’s Quay and newcomer The Spice Room, this tourist mecca is an equally attractive foodie destination.
For some reason Indian restaurants have a certain sameness in Sydney, few beyond The Spice Room have broken out of the mould.
